the current rate of $395 per unit, the tuition for the entire
degree program is $33,180.

Deferred Tuition Payment Program
|
Students may use the Deferred Payment Program to pay their tuition in installments over the course of a semester or session.
|
|
|
Every
course requires the purchase of course materials, which may include
casebooks, textbooks, and other relevant materials. These costs
vary, depending on such factors as courses taken, instructors
choice of texts, whether the student uses new or used textbooks,
etc. A reasonable estimate of the average cost of books would
be approximately $850.00 per academic year, excluding Summer session.
Supplies
generally cost approximately $125.00 per academic year. Costs
for any Summer session vary widely, depending on the number
and identity of courses taken.
Used books may at times be available through one of the student organizations on campus, (e.g., the Student Bar Association) or private purchase.

For
purposes of entitlement to refunds, a student will be considered
withdrawn and to have canceled her or his enrollment agreement
at the earlier of (i) the date on which written notice of withdrawal
is hand delivered to the Administration Office of the campus where
the student is enrolled; (ii) the postmark date, if written notice
of withdrawal is mailed to that office; or (iii) the date as of
which the student is deemed to have withdrawn, pursuant to the
Policy Manual, for failure to complete attendance or other course
requirements.
Refund
checks will be mailed to withdrawing students no later than
thirty (30) days from the date of withdrawal.
Tuition
Refunds. The amount of any tuition refund will be based on the
following:
All
tuition paid will be refundable to a student who withdraws or
is deemed to have withdrawn on or prior to the first day of
classes for the semester or session.
If
the student withdraws or is deemed to have withdrawn from a
course after 60 percent or more of the scheduled classes (clock
hours) for that course have been given, no tuition will be refundable
for that course.
If
the student withdraws or is deemed to have withdrawn from a
course before 60 percent of the scheduled classes (clock hours)
for that course have been given, tuition will be refundable
in an amount equal to the total tuition for that course, multiplied
by a fraction in which the numerator is the number of scheduled
classes (clock hours) for that course which have not yet been
given, and the denominator is the total number of scheduled
classes (clock hours) for that course. For example, if a student
withdraws from a 15-week, three unit course with 15 scheduled
classes (45 clock hours) after five classes (15 clock hours)
had been given, the refundable tuition for that course would
be computed as:
$395/unit
x 3 units = $1,185
(course tuition)
10 classes (30 clock hours) not yet given
$1,185 x 10/15 = $790 refund
The amount of tuition actually refunded to the withdrawing student
will be the aggregate refundable amount for all courses, reduced
by the aggregate amount of all tuition payable but not yet paid
with respect to such courses.
In
special cases, such as students attending the College while
receiving veterans benefits, where state or federal law
may require a different schedule of refunds, the amount of refundable
tuition will be as provided in such laws.
Any
student who is academically excluded from the College may receive,
upon written notification of withdrawal, a full tuition refund
for any course or courses in which he or she had enrolled after
academic exclusion but before notification thereof, provided
such students withdrawal is effective before the student
sits for final exams or otherwise completes all requirements
for credit for such course or courses.
Refunds
of Other Charges. Student fees and amounts paid to purchase
textbooks or other materials are not refundable, with the sole
exception that if a student withdraws prior to or as of the
first day of classes, all student fees (other than the Application
Fee) and all amounts paid to the College for materials will
be refunded. The cost of first-year books purchased from the
College will be refunded provided such books are returned to
the College at the time of withdrawal unused and unmarked.
Reservation
of Rights. The College reserves the right to change the amount
charged for tuition or fees, and/or its refund and cancellation
policies, at any time. However, any such change will be prospective
only and will take effect as of the commencement of the next
semester or Summer session immediately following the semester
or session in which such change is announced by the College,
unless a later effective date is specified.

Loan
Programs
Students attending the College are not eligible for federally
insured student aid or grants. However, attendance at the College
may qualify a student to participate in alternative loan programs.

Office at each campus.
Veterans
Benefits
Eligible veterans may qualify to receive benefits for study
at the College. For further information, contact the Administration
Office.
Student
Worker Program
A limited number of jobs in the library and other school offices
become available for student workers from time to time. The
Administration Office should be contacted for further information.

Trustees'
Scholarships
Scholarships of $1,000 may be awarded to two first year students
at each campus on the basis of scores on the Law School Admission
Test. The Board of Trustees may also award Trustees' Scholarships
of up to $2,500. Applications are open to students who have
completed first, second, or third year classes at the Colleges
of Law. Awards are based on merit and/or financial need.
Dean
Richard Goldman Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2006 by private benefactors
to honor the memory of the late Richard Goldman, who served
as Dean of the Colleges from 2001 to 2006.
Law
School Book Award
Each year, the student in each class year with the highest cumulative
grade point average as of the end of the preceding academic
year will receive a book scholarship of $500 from the College.
Alumni
Scholarship Fund
Two $250 scholarships are awarded to fourth year students based
on academic standing.
McMahon
Justice Scholarship
Honoring the memory of the late Patrick L. McMahon, Judge of
the Santa Barbara Superior Court, this scholarship was established
by a private benefactor. Students who are sworn peace officers
or work in fields related to law enforcement may apply.
Emergency
Child Care Grants
Students who need financial assistance to help cover the costs
of unanticipated child care may apply to the Dean, in writing,
for assistance.
Legal
Community Scholarships
Scholarships are offered to law students by local legal organizations,
including the Ventura County Mexican American Bar Association,
Ventura County Asian American Bar Association, Santa Barbara
Women Lawyers, and Delta Theta Phi law fraternity. Each year
the Foundation of the State Bar of California offers scholarships
to law students, in amounts up to $7,500. Preference is given
to those who have completed the first year with at least a 2.5
GPA and have demonstrated a commitment to public service.
Local
Community Scholarships
The Ventura Center for Dispute Settlement awards two scholarships
to its annual four-day negotiation and dispute resolution seminar
to students of the Colleges. Other community organizations also
provide scholarships for which the Colleges' students may be
eligible, including the Santa Barbara Foundation, Santa Barbara
Scholarship Foundation, Ventura CPA/Law Society, and Ventura
County Community Foundation, which administers the Sara Moody
Scholarship Fund and Roy A. Gustafson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Legal
Publisher's Awards
The Witkin Institute presents certificates to the top-ranked
student in qualifying courses in recognition of California's
preeminent legal scholar, Bernard E. Witkin.
